Dreamy Vanilla & Decadent Ganache I had to let my guys at the office know that I have a new found excitement in my life of making cup cakes and sure as thought, they held me to allowing them a taste. So I decided to make them the yummiest dreamy looking cup cakes. I used the basic vanilla cup cake recipe and made two batches. I added cocoa powder to one batch to turn them into chocolate cakes. Obviously the rule is if you are going to add another dry ingredient to the recipe then you need to use less of an existing dry ingredient. So I used around half a cup of cocoa powder to give the batter a rich chocolate look and decreased the cake flour by the same amount. That way I did not compromise on ensuring the cakes bake well and come out moist. The next step was to icing them. For the chocolate cup cakes I used premixed Ganache I purchased from the local bakery shop. For a great ganache recipe go to: http://www.marthastewart.com/274420/how-to-make-ganache .   I heated the
Hi everyone. I've decided to try my hand at a bit of blogging. I've heard so much about it and how so many people have actually made a career out of blogging. So here I am. My blog will be about my cup cakes but also about my love for fashion.
Birthday cup cakes for Dad So my dad heard all about my yummy marble cup cakes I made for my nephew's birthday party. There was no way I was not going to make a fresh batch for Dad's birthday. My Dad is a man who loves doing everything and anything. I can't remember a time in my life when my Dad was not busy building, fixing or cleaning something or another around the house. From being the handy man I know him to be he has now turned into the most awesome cook. He does not give up until he gets it right. I guess a lot of him has been passed onto me. I admire him so very much...   Now for Mr Handy Man , who has every electric gadget and tool, I ventured out to my local baking shop, Bakers Bin, here in Centurion, South Africa ( bakersbin.co.za ) to find something that I could decorate the cupcakes with. There I found moulded sugar shapes where I chose the set which had the scissors, spanner, drill and saw. These were perfect for dad's cupcakes. I used the

Kiddies cup cakes

Disney edible cupcake discs It ALL started with these cute little edible discs I found at the local supermarket. They were little disney characters. My nephews 1st birthday was coming up and I wanted to do something really special, so I bought a batch of the edible characters and started doing my research on cup cakes. I finally found a recipe for a marble cake. Ingredients 1 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup full cream milk 1 tsp vanilla essence 1/2 cup cocoa powder Preheat oven at 150degrees and grease line 12 cup oven tray with cup cake liners. Add all ingredients together in electric mixer and mix until everything is combined. If you are not using an electric mixer, combine all the dry ingredients first and then add the wet. Separate the mixture into half and add the cocoa to one half. I normally add 2 table spoons more of vegetable oil to the cocoa mixture to allow the cocoa to mix
